Spring Around the Home

Spring Around the Home

Spring is here! I finally had a mostly free weekend to decorate the house for Easter. I have to share a few peeks into our home here. It turned out so sweet and darling. I love all the pastel colors and tiny bunny rabbits this time of year. You can see the full reel over on Instagram here. The windows cracked with the birds singing is the most refreshing feeling after a long and bitterly cold winter. The dining room was instantly transformed with the yellow & white striped table cloth and pastel candles from Target. Magnolia & I ran into a Ulta this weekend for a birthday gift and she just had to get the heatless curls by Kitsch and we are both OBSESSED. I need to try it on my hair next. Shopping links at end of post!

Down by the Water

Down by the Water

Hello! I don't even know how to blog anymore. It's been so long. A good year since I shared about our IVF journey and our failed transfer/chemical pregnancy. A lot of life has happened since then. The greatest of all is that in a deep heartfelt conversation - & wise beyond her years - Magnolia told me she is happy being an only child. Her peace allowed me to close the infertility/IVF book for good. I'm the oldest of four and I only know life with siblings that are my best friends. I envisioned that for Magnolia and God had other plans. She is the center of my life and I celebrate daily the moments we get to share together. I don't miss a beat and we are side-by-side 90% of the time. I tear up thinking about how God had this plan for us all along. Our souls so greatly intertwined and a connection that is indescribable. The song Past Lives by Born is the melody of my heart for her.

All my past lives, they got nothing on meGolden eagle, you're the one and only, flying highThrough the cities in the sky (ooh-ooh)I'll take you way back, countless centuriesDon't you remember that you were meant to beMy Queen of Hearts? Meant to be my love?
Through all of my livesI never thought I'd wait so long for youThe timing is right, the stars are aligned
So save that heart for me'Cause, girl, you know that you're my destiny (d-destiny)Swear to the moon, the stars, the sons, and the daughtersOur love is deeper than the oceans of water

A few weeks ago we did photos down by the water. We were both very relaxed and the cool summer breeze made it unforgettable. I'm forever grateful to Allix with Serendipity Photography for capturing our laughs, twirls, and splashes.

VEGAMOUR - Ready, Set, Gro Kit

VEGAMOUR - Ready, Set, Gro Kit

If you know me you know I'm obsessed with hair & scalp care. Nothing is better than a product that gives you good hair day after good hair day! I was a bit worried after all the IVF drugs & hormonal changes that my hair would take a hit, but back in March I started using Vegamour Gro Kit and my hair and scalp have actually improved over the last few months. It's grown like crazy and the little baby hairs on top of my head have to be tamed. I think a lot of people only think about taking care of their hair, but just like your face your scalp needs love too. I apply the Vegamour Hair Gro Serum to the crown of my head and above each temple where it's always a bit thinner, after shampooing and conditioning with their revitalizing set. I've also been using their detoxifying serum on the same areas that I apply the serum. The detoxifying serum goes on BEFORE washing and helps remove buildup which is important for me because I use lots of styling products and go 4-6 days between washing.

For this post I went back to look at my hair over the last few months and I'm definitely happy with this product. With all the fertility treatments and endometriosis, I'm always very concerned about clean ingredients and Vegamour uses plant based phytoactives instead of silicone and sulfates like many other beauty companies.

I could not give a more glowing product review! Truly love this stuff. Oh, and I have to mention the SMELL. It smells amazing, my niece smelled it and now she is planning to get the set soon. Go to their website and look at the BEFORE & AFTER reviews. It's really amazing how much new hair growth others have had with it.

Just Breathe

Just Breathe

I had an ultrasound and blood work today as we get ready for our frozen embryo transfer (FET). This morning as the phlebotomist was taking my blood I noticed her tattoo "JUST BREATHE!" The prayer Ryan said before we left our house on May 17, 2016 for the FET of our Magnolia, was "JUST BREATHE!" It was a simple prayer, and the song "Just Breathe" by Willie Nelson was our song for our journey to her. After our transfer in 2016, I was wheeled back to our room & the doctor's office music started to play "Breathe" by Anna Nalick. Our prayer played above our heads the moment we got back to our room!!! I'll never forget how Ryan's eyes instantly teared up as we felt God working miracles in our lives and sending us signs of peace + hope + love.

Now I have all these incredibly special photos to cherish forever. I love them all so much, but the detailed shot she took of Magnolia's six year old hands - still with dimples in them - will forever mean so very much to me.

Magnolia is SIX!!!

Magnolia is SIX!!!

Magnolia turned SIX years old on the third. She had a Ballerina Bath Bomb birthday party at Buff City Soap with her cousins and dance + neighbor friends. It was the most fun party we have ever had. On her actual birthday she wanted to control the day, basically a YES DAY, and from the moment she woke up until bedtime she was in charge. It was a blast for me too and I made a reel on Instagram if you want to see little pieces of our day. I feel like so much has happened in this month of February. She went with me to almost all of my IVF appointments and we are so grateful to have one frozen embryo. Her very first tooth fell out! All three of her dances took first place at her very first dance competition of the season. It's been a very fun and blessed month!!!

IVF Miracle Update

IVF Miracle Update

We got the call yesterday afternoon while the whole entire city was celebrating our Chiefs THE World Champions. We have one PERFECT frozen embryo!!! Imagine all the confetti thrown at the parade and multiply it by one million, that's how much our hearts are celebrating.

The embryologist referred to our embryo as high quality and perfect several times. It was so hard to hold in the tears as my voice was trembling talking to her about the next steps.

All the HEART Eyes

All the HEART Eyes

Magnolia shares my love for VALENTINE'S DAY! The night before our photos with Shelby Lynn we were at dinner, and she said "we need to hurry home and get to bed" because she had to get up early and get ready! And she woke up at 4:30 am, we definitely did not need to get up that early, but she's an early bird and was excited to start the day. She had so much fun at the studio and loves the camera, she also adores Shelby! Doing mini sessions with Shelby is always the best time because she can work her magic in 15 minutes or less and the kids stay excited and into it the whole time. If your local to Kansas City, you just have to do a session with her. Photos to CHERISH FOREVER! See other photos we did with Shelby here, here, here, here, and here. Every single time I open an email with photos from her it will literally take my breath away. Talent, passion, magic, love, timely, creative - you name it - she's got it!

2022: A lot can happen in a year!

2022: A lot can happen in a year!

I sat across from Magnolia at lunch today, as I looked into her innocent blue eyes she told me she felt scared & excited about her newly loose tooth. I told her how much I understand. Those two words were the theme of 2022 and I'm certain they'll be carried into 2023, but with a little more emphasis on the exciting part. In 29 days I'll start injections for IVF and the thought of it all is terrifying and exciting. Magnolia talks about her brother/sister as if they are already here, already a part of her life, a guaranteed angel that will join us very soon. Every time she talks about being a big sister my heart jumps for joy and then it falls down and the walls I've created remind me of the babies we lost and the challenges we have in getting pregnant. What I fear the most is letting her down. What I hope for the most is the blessing from Heaven above.

Main Street Confectionery

Main Street Confectionery

Imagine walking into a cloud of cotton candy, and then imagine seeing an old fashioned candy shop where the walls are painted pastel pink, baby blue, and cool mint. It's like a dream and then imagine seeing your baby girl's monogram MSC on it all. All the feelings of magic turn to feelings of serendipity. This moment was nothing short of a dream come true!

We're Home from Magic Kingdom

We're Home from Magic Kingdom

What a whirlwind of a vacation and it was pure magic. I had absolutely no idea how much Ryan and I would love Disney World. We went into this trip with the mentality that we were doing this solely for Magnolia. I have friends that are diehard Disney fanatics, but never in my wildest dreams did I think I would love this trip as much as them. Ryan and I even walked into the parks on the first day being secretly pessimistic because the crowds were gawd-awful (and I even like the energy of crowds) and somehow the magic took us over. It was the smell of waffle cones being made and cotton candy being spun, it was glittery fireworks in the sky every hour, the parades and marching bands, princesses surprising us around every corner, the sound of laughter in the air, it was everything magical all at once. Literally, it swept us off our feet! We were having just as much fun as Magnolia.

Christmas DIY: Five Below Tinsel Wreath

Christmas DIY: Five Below Tinsel Wreath

Filling our home with all the shiny tinsel, glittery jewels, felt candy canes, fuzzy yarn, velvet ribbon, disco balls & sparkle stars, and unlimited cups of overflowing hot chocolate.

For this DIY you'll need this $5 tinsel wreath, fuzzy yarns, and felt candy canes. Hobby Lobby has the best selection of yarns and ribbons, and usually on sale every other week. All of the supplies for this DIY can be purchased locally or ordered online. I removed all the plastic bulbs from the wreath and then tied the yarns and ribbons around the wreath frame until it was as full as I wished. Lastly, added the felt candy canes. You can see the steps on my Instagram reel here

It's Official, IVF Sibling Cycle

It's Official, IVF Sibling Cycle

It's official, we are doing IVF again!!! Yesterday, on the first of December, Ryan and I signed up for the early February cycle and injections will start at the very end of January.
Our new doctor, Dr. Riggs at Blue Sky, ran every test under the sun. No kidding, over 300 tests just on me alone (the genetic carrier test was 274 of that), and praise the Lord I'm so grateful everything came back normal. The only thing against us this time around is my age and the fact that my 41 year old ovaries were cut on during the laparoscopy for endometriosis in June. He's not even worried about the endometriosis, he's confident he can get to the eggs just fine. Now we just pray and believe I have a few golden eggs remaining and we can make a healthy embryo. I'm taking all the supplements and living the cleanest lifestyle possible, something I've been doing for many many years.
I remember when we did IVF in 2015 for Magnolia and the pure amazement we felt about the science that goes into it all. What I remember the very most were the prayers and miracles along the way. While the science is astonishing, the prayers and faith and miracles are life changing. I am forever changed because of our first (one and only) golden embryo, Magnolia, and will always give the Glory to God for the gift of her. I'll be sharing more along the way because I believe in the power of prayer more than anything else. I'll forever be grateful for the friends and family that prayed for us during IVF in 2015. And now seven years later, all three of us cannot thank you more for reading this and praying for a brother or sister for our Magnolia Caroline.

DIY Candy Cane Hangings

DIY Candy Cane Hangings

It's the HAPPIEST TIME OF THE YEAR, and this is also my favorite time to do little crafts while I sip on a hot drink and listen to Christmas music. I have a growing drawer full of fuzzy yarn and frilly ribbon and I wanted to make something to hang on our dining room cabinet. I saw something similar on Instagram and had to recreate it with my own colors & vision. This is such a simple DIY that anyone that can tie a knot can do! I started with a long piece of ribbon tulle and then used all my yarns and ribbons to tie knots around it until I got to the bottom. I have a reel on Instagram you can see my dining room table with all the supplies here. The bells and felt candy canes are from Target, tap the pink shopping links here and here. I buy all of the yarn and ribbon at Hobby Lobby when it's on sale, usually 30-40% off. All of the supplies for this project can be used for gift wrapping also! I've had some of the yarn from several Christmases ago. I'm going to do this same technique on a wire Christmas tree that I found in the Bullseye section at Target that I'll share soon. I have these little felt peppermints ready to go for the next projects!

Christmas Home Tour 2022 - Part I

Christmas Home Tour 2022 - Part I

This morning I officially felt like Mrs. Claus or the Elf (the all time best Christmas movie EVER BTW) as I sipped on my hot coffee topped with gingerbread whipped cream and Andes candy cane peppermint bark. Alexa is playing Christmas music 24/7 unless a holiday movie is playing. Our Christmas bucket list is growing so fast I already know we won't be able to check off every fun idea, but just the thought of all the festive activities has us all very excited. Last weekend, as soon as the Halloween was packed up, we started to turn our home into the North Pole. I was so exhausted Sunday night after cleaning and decorating all weekend long, but now it's the coziest and merriest, and it makes us all so happy. I shared a home tour reel on Facebook and some dude I don't even know said "it's too early for Christmas, ever heard of Thanksgiving?" I didn't respond but definitely chuckled. I'll never understand why people have to rain on someone's parade. It's the happiest time of year and I want to soak up every last drop of joy. Today, I'm sharing a bunch of photos from our around our home and links to a lot of our favorite finds. I'm waiting on one more item before I can share our gingerbread village, OMGosh it's so sweet. We added a pink flocked tree to our collection this year and the pink poodle topper looks like it was made for it. Also, Magnolia has a sweet little tree in her playroom, but it's a disaster so I may or may not share that room at some point. Last night, Magnolia and I picked out some fun Christmas stuff at Target, go see my stories on Instagram @wendycorreen to see what we got. We got new red + white flannel bed sheets that are in the dryer as I type this and we can't wait to cuddle up in them tonight. Enjoy the tour...and check back soon for more festive fun. I have a few crafty projects I plan to do and can't wait to share here. These Santa Salt Dough ornaments from a few years ago were a big hit & we might just make more this year.
