Last weekend we celebrated our nephew Ollie's second birthday at the cutest little PAWty I've ever attended before. They rented the gym of their local middle school & the kids were able to run wild. My sister didn't miss a detail with newspaper covered tables that had several different types of dog bone treats (I even had to question if she really threw in real dog bones it all looked so real), puppy balloons, a cake covered in every breed of dog you can imagine, & the sweetest part of all was the puppy dog adoption at the very end. Magnolia picked an itty-bitty white dog to take home with us! Good news is, this one doesn't make her itch & it even attended the Wizard of Oz party we went to this weekend.
This Saturday we woke up before the sunrise to a loud thunderstorm that filled the sky with the brightest lightening. We watched the Wizard of Oz as we were getting ready for the road trip ahead of us. We took the yellow brick road all the way to Derby, Kansas to celebrate our niece, Claire, who just turned one year old!
Claire's party was all things Wizard of Oz with blue gingham dresses just like Dorothy for the girls --- with red shoes of course, red poppy covered cupcakes, & a huge bouquet of red balloons! Magnolia's puppy from the PAWty was carried around in her rainbow satchel. He wasn't quite like Toto, but you get the idea.
After cake & gifts the girls went for a ride in Claire's new Radio Flyer wagon. It was adorable to watch them sit back & relax as everyone took turns trying out the wagon. For a moment we thought Magnolia & Claire were going to fall asleep on one another. They were all partied out by that point!
We are grateful to say Magnolia is the best little traveler. The road trip both ways was over seven hours & she only fussed for about 15 minutes. I ended up getting in the backseat with her an hour from home & we talked, played peek-a-boo & watched toddlers play with their baby dolls on YouTube. Now that she passed this road trip test we are going to take her to Dallas next month. Magnolia Market at the Silos here we come!
While she was dreaming in the backseat about rainbows & puppies, Ryan & I listened to country music & took in the beauty of the rolling green pastures that surrounded us the whole way home. The gray sky still had an ominous glow from the early morning storms & the green grass on the flat lands literally went on forever until it met with the sky.
And the best part of all the celebrations is time spent with our families.
Have a great week, friends!!!
