Our New Cedar Deck

When Ryan and I bought our home not even two years ago we knew it'd be a place we'd passionately renovate over the years. We did quite a bit to the interior right away, and we still have a long list of things we still want to do, like a new laundry room (hopefully next spring) and finishing the basement. Eventually we will update all the bathrooms. Last year we did the front yard landscaping and Ryan's hobby is making the lawn as lush as a golf course. This spring and summer we had the exterior painted, and we installed all new light fixtures. We also had our small deck removed and a much larger cedar deck added. I shared progress photos of our deck as it was being built on Instagram. Today I'm doing a proper post to share some of the after photos along with our source information at the end.

Next spring we will add hanging baskets of flowers and potted plants to bring it to life. I have my eye on a modern fire pit at Target that we'll eventually purchase. Also, Ryan is currently researching the best mosquito traps.

This is our new favorite spot to enjoy our morning coffee and to have dinner on the weekends. It has a very romantic feeling with the soft glow of string lights above and the warmth from the screen wall that makes the whole space feel cozy and intimate.

After Magnolia goes to bed, I'll grab the baby monitor and Ryan and I will spend time together on the sofa catching up on life. Ryan also likes to bring the small TV out to watch baseball games in the fresh air.

This past weekend I had my mom and sisters over for lunch and it ended up being way too hot for us to spend much time out here, although we did eat our sandwiches in the heat until we all melted and headed back into the AC. Ryan and I plan to have his parents over for dinner before the weather gets too cold. We look forward to entertaining with our loved ones in this new space!

Ryan and I had raspberry champagne floats Sunday night. Then we woke up on Monday morning and listened to Willie Nelson over coffee with Magnolia and discussed new trees for our backyard!

The deck is cedar and stained in Sherwin Williams Super Deck Semi-Transparent Charwood.
