Shelving Styling Job | Overland Park, KS

Good morning to you! I cannot believe Christmas is less than two weeks away. Ry and I are keeping things very simple this year. We are moving the first of January and our house is currently being boxed up! Our tree reflects our current state of mind this year, see it here. We decided this morning we are going to bake and decorate snowman sugar cookies on Christmas Eve. I doubt they'll turn out this cute, but we'll give it a whirl.

Today I'm excited to share a BEFORE + AFTER of a shelving styling job I completed for the sweetest client. She sent me a few photos of her space, and her home is simply beautiful. Look at those HUGE shelves and all the natural light from the wall of windows.

They have 30 ft ceilings, and right away I started thinking about how to decorate the top shelves. After some back and forth, we finally decided on two large leaner mirrors from Ballard Designs and two large white vases from CB2. The vases will be filled with dried botanicals and the mirrors are going to reflect all the sunshine beaming into the room from the wall of windows. The two sides will be exactly the same, which will balance the space.

The mirrors and vases are currently on order. Last week I focused on the two lower shelves. As you can see, she had quite a few beautiful pieces already, that I was able to use as I was styling the area.

She gave me a budget and I shopped locally for items to decorate the shelves. When I first got there I unloaded my car full of stuff and then moved all that she already owned to the kitchen island. Then I got to the fun part of styling it! Notice the sink full of fresh flowers. All homes come to life with fresh flowers and I got all of those at Trader Joe's for less than $20!

We are both very happy with how it turned out. There are few more pieces coming for the right side that will "finish" the project. This is what it looks like so far.

All shelves need a nice variety of books! The books came from 1/2 Price Books, and I was very pleased with all their pretty selections and the prices were great! The books were a great way to add color and prop up decor items.

Before we got started I knew she wanted to include a breathtaking photo from her wedding day. We almost had it printed on a super large canvas for one of the top shelves, but then we went back to the idea of just two mirrors for the top shelves. Now we are going to have the wedding photo printed on a 16x20 canvas to display in front of this Andrea Pramuk piece of artwork from One Kings Lane.

Here are the small tweaks we have planned for the right side shelves. The coral pieces will be moved to another area and the new artwork and wedding canvas will go into that space! The colors in the artwork are soft and simply perfect for this home!

As always, thank you for reading my blog! I hope you enjoyed this BEFORE + AFTER styling job. If you're in the Kansas City area and need help with your home, please contact me. I'd love to talk to you about it.

Merry Christmas to you, with love!
