Heyyyyyy, FRIENDS!!! October in the Midwest is pure magic. The cool autumn breeze + golden leaves falling to the ground makes it just the absolute best. October is always my very favorite month of the year & also our wedding anniversary month. We picked an October wedding date for a reason. It's so crazy looking back on this year. This month has been the polar opposite of April. We have been on the go-go-go almost every single day. As always I have a phone full of photos I've taken to save moments in time & I just have to share some of them now before I have a huge book.
On Monday, Mags & I went over to my parent's house. They live on acreage & their property is breathtaking. It's not flat like most land in our area, they have lots of little hills that make for fun hiking. Hearing the leaves crunch under our feet while the sunlight sparkled between the golden leaves was truly therapeutic for the soul. Mags left with a pocket full of acorns & told me the whole drive home how much fun she had. We are going back over this weekend to carve pumpkins in the woods with a warm bonfire because the high for the day is only 57 degrees. Ohhhhhh how I love to breathe in cool air.
Obsessed with this view of the trees! It's so dang pretty out here.
This past Sunday we did fall family photos & our photographer sent us a sneak peek. OMG we are so happy to see they turned out like they did. Ryan & I left a little bummed. The winds were crazy & my hair was untameable and then Maggie Mermaid got caught up in a thorn bush. It scratched up her leg pretty bad and she was not her usual happy self pouting the whole time. We left thinking they wouldn't turn out, but our photographer always comes through! We can't wait to see the rest!!! You can see our little preview
here.
On Saturday Ryan & I celebrated our five year wedding anniversary. Mags went to my sister's house & we went on a fun lunch date. Forever grateful to be his wife! I'll never forget the days I prayed for him. He is such a good man & the best husband & daddy.
I think most gals my age can still appreciate the Fred Durst look, ha! I made him do it & I'll always think it's sexy.
Two weekends ago we spent the day at Ryan's parents land. They made the coolest spooky trail for the kids to walk through and find treats hanging from the trees. Mags and I had time to take a few selfies before we left.
Our spooky house at golden hour!!!
'Tis the season for lots of baking. We put "sprinkles" aka pink himalayan sea salt on top of our chocolate chip cookies before we pop them in the oven. Try it if you haven't already, so good. My mom is coming over this afternoon for lunch before Mags & her bake cupcakes together.
In a later post I'm going to share some more photos inside our home. We're finally furnishing it and it's starting to feel even more cozy just in time for the holidays.
We planted this Blushing Bride hydrangea in the spring and she's still blooming so pretty.
And now just a bunch of sweet photos of our girl!
She's our world!
And lastly, the reason I take photos every single day! I just signed up for Chatbooks & they send me two books a month from my Instagram account. I got these two recently. My beloved dog Mrs. and my dear grandma's hands. Looking through them brought back some really wonderful memories. I miss them both so much & feel so thankful that I took the time to capture them in photos.
There is half of our October! I'll be back soon to share more. Up next we have the pumpkin patch with my parents + sisters this weekend & then pumpkin carving in the woods. Also we're planning an extra spooky Halloween party at our house!!! I've never hosted a Halloween party before & I'm getting pretty excited. I think Mags & I finally figured out our Halloween costumes to coordinate with my sister's family.
Hope your October is a very HAPPY one!!! xo
