Magnolia's First Birthday

Magnolia's first birthday party was over a month ago & we recently got her photos back from our photographer. Now we get to relive the celebration all over again. It was such a special day & I'm so grateful we got to party with our loved ones, in such a charming venue, while we thanked God for the gift of her in our lives.

While Ryan, my aunt, and I got all the party stuff ready, our photographer Christa Everly got Magnolia dressed in her pink feather tutu dress and took her around the Vintage House to snap photos of her for us to cherish forever.

Magnolia's newborn photos didn't go quite like I had imagined. She cried almost the whole entire time, but now she is a total charmer in front of the camera!

A few things I want to remember about her at this age:

1// She is obsessed with my wallet & if she sees it in my hand she must hold it and go through it. She also loves my purse/diaper bag & I normally let her completely empty it out at least once a day!
2// Avocado remains her favorite food, but we have added all forms of dairy-free ice cream to the favorite list. She's still living on my breast milk, and enjoys big gulps of ice cold almond milk from a straw at meal time.
3// She has enough hair for an itty-bitty pony tail & it appears she'll have a mouth full of teeth in a month or so!
4// Walking is not a priority in her life & we all talk about when she may decide to take that first step. I've caught her standing freely several times without her even realizing she's doing it.
5// We do music class once a week & she is the social butterfly talking & touching everyone. She has tried to steal other momma's cell phones on occasion. We had a substitute teacher one week & it was really cute to see her reaction to "missing" her regular teacher.
6// Her three favorite movies are: Monsters, Inc., Santa Paws (I & II), and Moana
7// She is very loving to her baby dolls. Someday she's going to make the best big sister, I just know it.
8// She's always climbing on & off of the sofa & fireplace mantle & has fallen more times than I can count. My heart stops at least once a day!!! I'm still working on not gasping for air in a complete panic.
9// It's been a month since we lost our furbaby Mrs. & she still looks for her. Now when the neighbors' dogs bark she reacts with excitement. And my heart still aches missing our Mrs.
10// When her daddy & I clap our hands & say "good job Magnolia" she LOVES the excitement & encouragement & will clap and say "Yeah" with us.

The day of her party was a crisp & bright February day, just like the year before when she entered the world.

On another day I'm going to share an entire post all about the bakery, Sugar Rush, that did her cake, cookies & cupcakes. I think it's a rare find to have a baker that makes beautiful desserts that actually taste delicious too. I sent her several photos of my dessert visions & she went above & beyond with all of it.

Singing Happy Birthday to our daughter was a dream come true! Whatever her little soul wished for as her blue eyes gazed into the twinkling birthday candle this year, and all the years to come, I pray they all come true.

She was a bit timid when it came to tasting sugar for the first time. I gave her a bite of my chocolate cake & she was a big fan! Her sweet ONE birthday crown is from Penny & Gigi.

After cake it was time for all kids favorite part of parties! GIFTS!!! Her cousin Lucca was the gift assistant, bringing all the gifts to her & helping to untie the bows & pull off the wrapping paper.

I wrote this with a heart full of gratitude, reminiscing about the prayers we said as we waited for her to be ours. The beginning of March brings back waves of emotions & memories as I think about the start of our IVF process. Two years ago at this very time I was going to the doctor almost every other day, Ryan was injecting needles in my stomach, and I was on my knees praying to God to make us parents. I still pray for all my friends & all the couples I've never met that are still waiting for their baby. Infertility is a battle most people won't ever have to endure, but for the ones that do, my heart will always always understand the fear laced with hope, the doubt laced with dreams, the longing laced with faith.

This morning I shared on Instagram, one of my favorite scriptures that got me through much of the wait & fear.

Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, 'move from here to there', and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you. Matthew 17:20

If you missed my first post about her birthday party, you can see all the photos I snapped along with the help of our friends & family over here.

Hoping you have a week full of happiness!
