Craving Simplicity

Craving Simplicity

Do you ever wonder what your home would look like if you got rid of everything you do not ADORE? I do, and I'm getting the urge to start a pile of keep, donate, and sale. I've done it before and it could happen again very soon. This beautiful home by Clare Cousins has me inspired to start re-doing and de-cluttering my spaces. See more of this refreshing home here.

Sunny Kitchen by Pencil & Paper Creative Development Co.

Sunny Kitchen by Pencil & Paper Creative Development Co.

Hello and lovely day to you! I have a sunny and bright kitchen to share with you today via Pencil & Paper Creative Development Co.. This kitchen magically combines my favorite colors and tones, white + gold, in a very successful way! I absolutely adore the counter-to-ceiling white subway tile - with white grout - that beautifully showcases those metallic gold shelves. The simple and sleek white cabinetry is the perfect modest back drop to the gold statement bar pulls. Uh…the gold lantern style lighting above the marble counter top island is just breathtaking! The pinch of blue in the geo pattern window coverings and rug is the cherry-on-top of this whole space. And I have to mention the doggie, he seems right at home in his posh kitchen! I would too!

Smitten Studio's Kitchen

Smitten Studio's Kitchen

As you may guess I love to read blogs. I'll admit I've been caught up in so many other things this summer that I feel I need to catch up with all my favorite ones. Smitten Studio is one of my favorites and one that I like to check-in on every few weeks. She is in the midst of a home project, in her adorable cabin, that she shares on the blog. The beautiful photos have me ooh-and-awing and the links to all the sources are super helpful.  The Kitchen Update post from early July is just amazing and I have to share it here with my readers. The cabinet paint colors, by Farrow & Ball, with Wimborne White on top and Pigeon on the bottom is a noteworthy idea and a new trend I'm seeing more and more. You can find all the project details along with sources on her blog here.

Whole House Renovation in Old Leawood | The Mohawk Project

Whole House Renovation in Old Leawood | The Mohawk Project

*Previous Post from the Guehne-Made blog, June 2014*

It's time for me to do my very favorite Guehne-Made THING! I get to show off a recent project. If you've followed my blog for sometime, you should know how happy and excited I am to show you the BEFORE and AFTER photos of our projects. This is one that we hold near-and-dear to our hearts. It was a whole house renovation, and after six months of working with a couple on a home project like this, it's inevitable that you'll grow close to them. And miss them once the project is over. Nick and I are so very lucky to get to work with such amazing people, and this couple [aka Mr. and Mrs. Z], were absolutely wonderful to work with. We try to spoil our clients with gratitude, and Mr. and Mrs. Z happened to turn the tables on us. I will never ever forget their kindness. They always had food and drinks for everyone to enjoy. As a result, the morale and home was filled with love and gratitude!

I do recall a fun cabinet meeting that included wine and beer right before Christmas! Not only do they have huge hearts, but they have a beautiful sense of style. I'll let the AFTER photos do the talking in that regard!

All of the project details were shared on the Kansas City Homes and Gardens blog. You can see the BEFORE AND DURING post here. And the FINAL REVEAL can be viewed here. Much of the project details can be found using the KCH&G links, but if you have any questions that you cannot find the answers to on there, please feel free to contact me directly via email at wendycorreen@gmail.com. Instagram is another place you can go to see the project evolve by using the hashtag #mohawkprojectgm. Follow along with me on Instagram @wendycorreen.

I took hundreds of photos throughout this job, and there are a ton of AFTER photos that I must share. You'll find two slideshows below, one for the BEFORE photos and one for the AFTER photos. You can click on the arrows in the upper right corner to view the full screen high resolution images.

Here are a few of my very favorite pix from this project. This project was featured in the January 2015 issue of Kansas City At Home, read about it here.
