Before we had Magnolia, Ryan and I had a serious conversation about "baby stuff!" I know it's easy to collect stuff over the years and to end up with overflowing closets and overcrowded basements. I know kids are often showered with toys and gifts, because they're just so darn adorable and everyone wants to spoil them with cute little toys. We take thought in every item that we welcome into our home, and I didn't want that to change once our baby girl arrived. It's important for me to have a well organized home and to only have products in our home that we truly believe in.
Other than books and one Finn and Emma rattle, there are only two products that Magnolia uses on a daily basis for fun. The IKEA Leka Play Gym and her Baby Bjorn Bouncer Seat. She really loves her play gym and every morning after nursing she'll play under it while I make coffee and do a few chores around the house. I love hearing her make all kinds of noises, from baby talk to giggling, as she tries to reach up for the toys that are hanging above her head. This is also the spot where she has been practicing her rolling over skills and where she learns to use her hands and feet to grip. I love the gym because of it's simplicity. I'm also able to wash the bottom mat and it comes out smelling like Downy and looks extra fluffy. Did I mention it's only $24.99?
We started using the Baby Bjorn Bouncer Seat when she was itty-bitty and now she has grown into it. She is able to get it bouncing with her strong long legs and she really likes the ability to sit in an upright position and see around the room. I often times take this seat into the bathroom when I'm getting ready and I've taken it onto the front porch in the evenings when I'm watering the flowers. It is washable too, and it's been washed a lot. That's a whole other story!
I wanted to share these two items because I get a lot of questions about the play gym on Instagram. As a new mom I've learned quickly that many of my pre-baby plans and rules have been thrown out the window. I do believe our thoughts on "stuff" will remain important to us and continue to be a priority for several reasons. For us it is important to be thoughtful about our possessions.
Tomorrow is Friday! Wishing you and yours a very happy weekend!
